We all have these recycling jute shopping bags. Rather boring they are!! We have made ours into a fun Dotty Jute Bag.
Cut stripes of our Pastel Grosgrain Polka Dot Ribbon and hand sew the ribbon to the bag. We used straight stitches, but made them uneven in size, use thread that matches the ribbon dots. To make the ribbon flowers, cut lengths of ribbon about 30cms long and secure the thread at one end. Sew small running stitches along one edge, gather the ribbon to form the flower, secure with a few stitches. Cut a small circle of coloured felt. sew small running stitches around the outer edge and gather up to form a small felt button. Sew the felt button to the centre of the flower. embroider several french knots to the centre of the flower, or seed beads to add extra detail. Sew the flowers on to the bag.
We added a knotted ribbon tie to the handles as a finishing touch.
