£20 voucher winners
08/11/2010
Well what can I say about the Hobbycrafts Show last weekend, how about - FANDABBYDOSEY!!!!!!
It was simply unreal, customers just kept on coming back again and again to the stand. Thank you to all our wonderful customers.
I had a lovely surprise on Saturday morning, I was restocking the button units before the show opened, and I felt something clinging to my legs. I looked down and there was little Mollie. Rachie and Bev had decided to make a surprise visit, it was wonderful to see them. They had left Dorset at 5.30am just so they could be with us before the show opened. I would like to think that they came just for me and it had nothing to do with all the goodies they went home with!!!!
Thanks for all your concerned comments about my camera, it was on our stand the next morning where I had left it. But I did have a disturbed night worrying about it. I must be over tired, because I forgot to take it into work today, so when it was time for the Friday FREEBIE draw I had no camera - boo hoo. So after everyone had gone, I rushed home, picked up the camera and headed for Bev's, we could not have another week of just paper slips on a table, could we.
So the two £20 vouchers are going to the two lucky numbers picked by our Sydney............

WOW Ruby and Helen you each have £20 smackers to spend on our website - what will you put in your baskets, do tell. Please email me at craftyribbons@gmail.com to claim your prize and I will send you all the details to get your sticky mitts on the vouchers.
A big huge thank you for everyone who left comments this week, we met quite a few of you over the weekend - always great to put faces to names. We hope you all had fun at the show.
Tony and I unloaded the exhibition stand this morning and Rachie refused to speak to us, she was.....well I can only say "Gobsmacked" by how little amount of stock we had left. She wandered around the warehouse saying "BUT it's Paris next week!!' "Ali sold all my stock", "We are going to Paris and the ribbon units are empty". After a good strong cup of coffee, she got her head round the little problem and started pulling ribbon rolls from the shelves, printers started whirring, scissors starting chopping and crates started to be filled with out work for the girls. I overheard her on the phone to one girl saying "This is the last push, no more outwork until the New Year, I can give you the Swiss Dots, you like those". Ooooh she can be such a charmer!
Phew....even I thought we had a problem on our hands. I can sleep tight tonight that we will have ribbons to sell in Paris.

We saw some wonderful crafters yesterday at the NEC, it was very busy and the show has grown so big. If you are planning on visiting the show, wear some comfy shoes!!! I took some photo's for Ruby, but I left my camera on the stand overnight by mistake - please still be there when I go in today.

Hello Wednesday - Recycle with Jumbo!
03/11/2010
![](/docs/blogfiles/2010/6/hello+wednesday.png)
Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!
We like to re-cycle when we can, both in the warehouse and at home. So when I purchased a new pair of shoes recently and they came in a fabric style bag....Ooooooh I thought!
![](/docs/blogfiles/2010/11/master+ric+rac+bag.png)
When I got home I turned the bag inside out, well it had the shops name printed on the outside and that would be no good!!
The bag had totally lost it's shape so with a warm iron I pressed the folds back into shape - perfect.
Now for decorations, simple and elegant I thought. Our Jumbo Ric Rac (HERE) had only just arrived in the warehouse, what a perfect chance to have a play. Because I had turned the bag inside out there was a nasty seam running all the way round the top of the bag. That was sorted by hand stitching red ric rac over the top.
The bag needed just a little bit more, so I frayed the ends of a couple of strips and sewed them into place as well. That's all it needed.
I have filled the bag with all the Ribbon Challenge treasure parcels that were sat waiting for me yesterday. I have not opened any, so no photos taken yet!! All can be seen on our Hobbycrafts stand at the NEC this weekend. Anyone coming to see us??
Off to Birmingham we go.......

How can it be the 1st of November?
Today has been one of those days, Tony and I did not arrive back to Dorset until 6 this morning, after driving through the night on our way back from Dublin. We had a couple of hours sleep then had to take the van into the warehouse to be off loaded and and restocked in time for Hobbycrafts on Wednesday!! By the time I remembered the Friday FREEBIE draw all the kiddies had left, to say I have not been running on all cyclinders today would be an understatement!!
The winners of this weeks Friday FREEBIE are..........

We have had many emails from customers who were expecting to see us in Glasgow over the weekend. When the orgaisers moved the dates of the Hobbycrafts show at the SECC to clash with the Dublin show, there was very little we could do. We are very sorry that we were unable to attend both shows, we also missed seeing you all in Glasgow. We promise to get all your orders out as quickly as possible to make up for your disappointment.
Think it will be early to bed tonight!

Tony and I are having a great time in Dublin, we finished setting the stand up early on Wednesday so headed into Dublin on the Dart railway. We headed straight to Grafton Street for a little lunch at Brown Thomas. While enjoying a scrummy lunch I spotted the Christmas department. Well I just had to have a stroll around, oooh Christmas ribbon - a white sheer ribbon printed with silver snowflakes very nice.....but, but......how much!
We strolled up and down Grafton Street and as it was such a sunny day decided to walk back to the hotel, we went through St Stephens Green Park and headed back. It was rather further then we thought, but it finished off a great day.
The show opened yesterday, all exhibitors were rather apprehensive as to what the show would bring due to Irelands economy. Rumours were rife that the show would be poor, pre booked tickets were the worst in the shows history! The Knitting and Stitching Show doors opened at 10am and the customers started to dribble in......ummmm that's not good. Tony decided that if it was going to be quiet he would need some lunch, so popped out to get some sandwiches. He came rushing back saying the queue was out of the door, round the building and into the road!!! Wowee!!
It was a fantastic day, lots of ribbons and buttons sold, and our stand was swamped at times. Poor Tony has to cope on his own when I go to my workshop, it was SOLD OUT, which is always pleasing.
Fingers crossed the rest of the show will be as good. We hope you all have a fab Halloween weekend.

Hello Wednesday - Winnie Witch
27/10/2010
![](/docs/blogfiles/2010/6/hello+wednesday.png)
Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!
As I am away in Dublin over Halloween I am going to be missing out on the little ones all in their spook outfits, waving their ribbon wands - boo hoo. A little girl came up to me last week and said "Ali -Winnie doesn't have an outfit to wear for Halloween, he would like a purple and black one like mine" - how could I say no. Not that I was very busy or anything, Sydney added "You could have Winnie when I am at school, then I wouldn't miss him". She had obviously thought this out.
So meet Winnie the Witch
![](/docs/blogfiles/2010/10/master+winnie+witch.png)
Black and purple ummmm ok. Down the ribbon aisles we went, sourcing the correct ribbons Syd had in mind - remember Syd has been working with ribbon since before she could walk and has a huge mental colour spectrum, it is not just purple in her eyes. Black ribbon from the halloween section, purple from the Vine yard shelf. "He must have ribbons coming from his hat Ali". I have to make a hat as well!!!
So as well as launching umpteen NEW ranges, planning the exhibtion stands for Dublin and hobbycrafts and helping to despatch the orders, I made Winnie a witches outfit.....
![](/docs/blogfiles/2010/10/winnie+witch.jpg)
.....with a hat and all from ribbon. But would Syd like it?
She loved Winnie the Witch. We went down to the woods to try and take a few spooky photos, but Syd was worried that Winnie would fall from the branches and wanted to hold onto him all the time!
A few bits of ribbon, scissors and a needle and thread and you can make dreams come true.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2009/1/ali.jpg)
(For those of you who maybe new to the blog - Sydney is my niece (Bev's daughter) and Winnie is her favourite bear, he has been with her since 0. Sydney does know that Winnie is a boy but has no problem in him wearing dresses. Every now and again I make him outfits from ribbon alone, The first was a ballerina outfit so he could go to ballet classes with Sydney and so on)
No more room in the van
25/10/2010
Nope, there is no room in the van we have packed it full of yummy, wicked, scrummy ribbon for it's trip to Dublin tomorrow. Rachie even tried to hide in the back of the van, but we got her out and filled the gap with even more ribbon. It has been a long day, thanks to everyone for all your help.
Bet you thought we had forgotten the Friday FREEBIE draw. No, but I did have a little problem........
![](/docs/blogfiles/2010/10/mollie+10+and+35.jpg)

Ribbon Challenge # 19
24/10/2010
SORRY THIS CHALLENGE IS NOW FULL
Gingerbread Men
![](/docs/blogfiles/2010/10/jar+500.jpg)
We got so upset in the summer, we could not find any ribbons with Gingerbread Men. We searched and searched but no luck......
......so we commissioned our own Crafty Gingerbread Man ribbon. He is a very happy Gingerbread man, dancing along the ribbon.
Our NEW Ribbon Challenge # 19 is all about Gingerbread Men - ribbons, buttons and tags. If you also have a passion for these fun little guys then why not join in with the challenge. We have 15 bundles of Gingerbread goodies to give away, so just send me an email to craftyribbons@gmail.com and these cute guys could be coming your way for free - in return all we ask is for you to send us 2 projects using the goodies.
I have wanted to make one of these ingredient jars for ages, I planned on making one for the countdown to Christmas last year but ran out of days! Just fill a jar with the dry ingedients for Gingerbread Cookies. Put half the flour into the jar and press it down firmly, then add the suger. Finally mix the spices and ginger with the balance of the flour and fill up the jar. Write the cooking instructions on to the tag and it makes a perfect little gift.
