Ribbon Challenge # 17

08/08/2010

SORRY THIS RIBBON CHALLENGE IS FULL

We have a new Ribbon Challenge for you, and this time it is using Exclusive Ribbons. What do we mean - Exclusive?  They have been printed just for Crafty Ribbons

Yes, we know you can already get Organza Swiss Dot Ribbons BUT NOT in these stunning colours.  We have hand picked the colours, taking into account those that you love from our Grosgrain Swiss Dot Collection and have had them specially printed - just for you and me and Bev and Rachie and Crafty Ribbons!!!!

We have been asked so many times for this ribbon, but I was just unable to find a supplier with colours we liked, many only had one or two colours, I wanted a WOW Collection!  Because we have had them printed by the ribbon manufacturer, there is no middleman so the lowest price is amazing at only 27p per mtr, on some websites we have seen it at over 50p and on others you have to buy 90mtrs to get anywhere near our price.

There are 23 awesome colours printed with either the classic white dots, stylish black dots or the cosmopolitan brown dots. Take a look at the colours HERE we really hope you like them as much as we do.

Do you like them?

Do you want to be the first to get your hands on them?

Do you want to add these to your ribbon stash?

If the answer is yes, then you had better send me a email to craftyribbons@gmail.com because I have 15 bundles of every colour to give away!!! That's right - if you take part in this NEW Ribbon Challenge # 17 you will get the Organza Swiss Dot WANT IT ALL COLLECTION, all we ask in return for these drop dead gorgeous EXCLUSIVE ribbons is for you to send us two goodies using the ribbon - cards, projects, ATC's, it's up to you.

The first fifteen to reply will be sent an email requesting address details so we can send your free ribbons!  Your finished cards and projects will be posted onto the blog and the website.

Come on join in and be EXCLUSIVE with Crafty Ribbons!

If you LOVE the ribbons but not up for a challenge, you can buy the ribbons by simply clicking HERE.

Hello Wednesday - Ribbon Apron

04/08/2010

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all down hill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

Another ribbon treat for you this week, to be honest I had to make something that needed sewing.  Remember my long standing sewing machine had gone off to the repair shop, well I had a call to say that the problem was terminal (only took them 6 weeks to diagnose the problem!) and that my 22 year old machine would not be coming home - arrrh. For the past two weeks I have ooohd and aahd about getting another one, did I need one? How often would it be used? You know the thoughts. My Pfaff was one of the first computerised sewing machines that came out on the market and it had trillions of stitches, of which I used jQuery15204457360409952146_1369042972597???? I expect you can guess.

This hello wednesday project was created by my new love - yes I have a new Janome sewing machine, which is wicked.

This is not any old apron - nope. It is a "Tea Towel Apron". What's that?  It is made from a Tea Towel.  I have been looking for plain tea towels for a while and I came aross this bright red one, also a cream and willow one on Saturday.  Super just what I wanted, with a little bit of ribbon I would have my ribbon project.

You need a tea towel that is oblong, I think they are all about the same size. A piece of ribbon that will go around your waist and tie into a bow at the back (I used the deckchair stripe HERE) and then another piece of ribbon for the pocket trim (try the gorgeous strawberries HERE) - that's it.

You need to fold the tea towel in about half and then fold the top section down again.  Play around with the folds until you are happy with the pocket size.  Give it a good press to set the folds.

Open the tea towel out and machine the pocket ribbon trim to the top edge of the pocket fold on the tea towel.  Use the fold line as a guide, you can pin the ribbon in place if you wish.  Sew the top edge of the ribbon (nearest the fold) first.  When you get to the end of the ribbon, cut the threads and machine the other ribbon edge.  I may have told you this before.  Always machine both sides of the ribbon in the same direction - this will avoid puckering of the ribbon. Iron the ribbon, and refold the apron.

Pin the pocket to the back of the apron and machine around the three sides of the pocket.

Fold the apron in half widthwise and gently iron a fold in the centre of the pocket (you can just see mine in the picture).  Use the fold as a guide when sewing the pocket into two sections.  You can of course make the sections any size you wish, a smaller one for pens etc.

Fold your waist ribbon (deckchair stripe) in half to find the centre, pin this to the centre of the apron waist, continue pinning the ribbon to the apron waist.  Machine along the top edge of the ribbon waist, cut thread and then sew along the bottom ribbon edge.

Apron is all finished and ready for use - No Tony this does not mean that I am going to start cooking!! Aprons can be used for crafting too........

Hello Wednesday - just add ribbon

28/07/2010

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all down hill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

We went up to London recently, just to have a look round and see what was happening.  I think I have said in the past, living in Dorset is wonderful but every now and again you need a bit of buzz.  London does that for us!  While strolling around, something caught my eye, a baby shop.  Not something I am prone to looking in, but  I spotted a pure white baby body suit with a pink ribbon tied around the middle, only £75 - WHAT!!

O.K. I might like the buzz but not the prices!

I made this for Mollie, 3 body suits for £10.00 plus a metre of ribbon for each suit.  I used this bright red dotty ribbon (HERE), I think it is fun, big and bold. I simply hand stitched the ribbon around the suit and tied a bow.  I secured the bow with quite a few stitches so Mollie would not be able to pull it apart - well that was the idea.

We are all very busy in the warehouse this week, lots of things going on! We have never been this busy in the summer before, it is normally our quiet time when we manufacture things like the value bags (HERE).  These value bags would be perfect to decorate body suits, each ribbon is 1.30mtr long and there are 13 or 14 different ribbons in each bag.  At an amazing prize of £3.00 a bag or wait for it........ 3 bags for £5.00

50mtrs for a fiver, now that is not bad - and you get 40ish different ribbons. No wonder we call them VALUE RIBBON BAGS!

Oops no camera

26/07/2010

Oops I forgot to bring my camera into work today, I was having fun using it yesterday.  I made poor Tony walk all along the Beaulieu river bank so I could take photos of the boats.  He did enjoy himself although he got a blister on the way back!

So sorry no photo to prove the number that we pulled from our "Bingo" bag today, you will just have to trust us.  The winner of this weeks Friday FREEBIE prize is.........

.......number 9. - Wilma

A second chance to win those gorgeous ribbons - fantastic. Shame about the tangle of ribbons though - i am imagining you all sitting aroung this box winding up ribbons and occasionally making the 'abrupt' comment Smile!!
PS I wouldn't mind if the jampot ribbons arrived in a mess - gladly sort them out!!
Smile  Smile

Hi Wilma, cor you have some stunning jam pot ribbons coming your way - all we need is your address craftyribbons@gmail.com . I promise your ribbons will not be in a mess.

Thanks to everyone who left us a comment, they kept us going through Friday, and big thanks to your kind offers to detangle our box of ribbons.  We did try to retrieve the ribbons, but they are all narrow sheers and some have become crushed.  We are happy to detangle a few mtrs but 10,000 was just not economical so the manufacturer is reprinting the order for us, and shipping a NEW batch of ribbons. What great service.

I am hoping we may get a delivery later this week, because we have a Crafty Ribbons EXCLUSIVE coming your way - nope my lips are sealed I am saying no more. You will just have to wait and see - tee hee.

I could not do a post without some photos to share with you, these were kindly sent in by Gail.  She was crafting with her 5year old daughter on Wednesday and of course using ribbon - our ribbons.

Wow they are fantastic and what a clever way to conceal the join between the two papers.

Thanks for sharing your cards with us Gail and Samantha. With the start of the school holidays I hope you will send many more photos.
