Blog

A HUGE thank you...........

19/03/2012

............to everyone that came to see us as at the Stitch & Craft Show at Olympia.  We had a record breaking show, Thursday, Friday and Saturday were just unbelievable.  I stood on the stand on Saturday evening trying to work out how I could fill the gaps!! There was no stock left in the stock room and the van was empty.  In the end we just removed ribbons from other pegs and filled the holes.

It was great to meet more of our blog followers and we were treated to a super surprise on Sunday......

..............we had twelve of these given to us. Ribbon and button cupcakes, how fab, and they taste just as delish as they look. Lindsey promised Tony some of her cupcakes, but she made plenty for him to share.........

.................and they made it back to Dorset!!  Bev and Rachie enjoying their treat this morning.  Thank you Lindsey, Andrea, Mel and Sharon for coming to see us and hope you all had a fab Mothers Day meal out.

Sorry you did not hear from me last week, I had planned to post and had uploaded several of the Baby washing line creations to share, but the hotel wanted £14.99 per night for wi-fi!!! Please do not think me cheap, BUT I thought that was such a ridiculous amount to charge that I refused.  I could have gone and sat in the lounge with the other guests to get FREE wi-fi but thought they may have felt a bit uncomfortable with me wearing my spotty PJ's!

Just waiting for Mollie to get home from school and then I am off home too.  We all had a busy morning, after off loading the exhibition stand we decided to put all the ribbons away so that the stand could go into storage as it will not be needed until September.  That's right no more shows until SEPTEMBER.

So.......... the girls gave away my NEW button boxes as a Friday FREEBIE prize.  "Ummph, ummmph" I went when I found out!  They were due on the website last Tuesday but Sue phoned in sick so I helped re-stock the stand and did not find the time to do any computer work. So who is going to be lucky and win the NEW button boxes..............NO still not going to tell you what they are.......still a surprise!

Mollie picked number......................

Number 15 = Victoria
I love your button boxes, and it would be wonderful prize to win. Always hunting around for the right buttons for projects so it's nice to have a good stash of them.

Oh Victoria you are in for a treat, we sold out of these three button boxes at Olympia, thankfully Rachie and Bev had squirelled away your prize before we left.  Please email us your address to craftyribbons@gmail.com so you can start playing with your NEW buttons.

Thank you to everyone that left super comments, I read them all in the van on the way home last night, much to Tony's annoyance due to the white glare of my phone screen!!

Bye for today.

Hello wednesday - Survival Kit

14/03/2012

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

I have another very talented guest designer for todays Hello wednesday project - Andrea. Look what she has made..................

Andrea sent this to me, in a box filled with lots of super creations made by her friends Sharon, Mel and Lindsay. I will share their creations with you all next week, they are stunning.

This Survival kit is such a treasure, every drawer is filled with an item from the New Mums Survival list.

Both Rachie and Mollie independently have bagged this as "their" box.  Think not guys this is mine!

This is such a super crafted box Andrea, we love it. It must have taken you ages to make, thank you so much for making it for us.

Busy and long day yesterday.  Poor Sue phoned in sick, so we were one man down as they say.  We think she came and had a sneak peak at the empty state of the exhibition stand, and just felt so ill!!

But after a lot of hard work, the stand is fully re-stocked and back on the van and ready to rock and roll all the way to London - or do I mean grunt and groan...................it has a lot of stock on board!!

Hope to see lots of you at Olympia, you can not miss our stand, right at the bottom of the escalators.

Have fun.

Boy what a long way

A very quick post to say we are home from Glasgow, all save and sound, and to let you know who won the Friday FREEBIE ribbons.

I asked Syd to pick a number from the "Bingo" bag, she was busy doing her home work - or so she told me!

Number 8 = Louise
These ribbons are SO pretty and I would love to win some of them.

Best wishes,
Louise.

Well done Louise you have some super Vintage Rose ribbons to play with.  Please email us at craftyribbons@gmail.com with your address details.

Many thanks to everyone that left super comments, we had a stunning show in Glasgow and am totally worn out!!

Will catch up with you all tomorrow.

Friday FREEBIE - A bunch of Roses

09/03/2012

We had a fun day in Scotland yesterday it was great to meet so many blog readers and facebook followers.  It is always good to be able to put faces to names.  Carol brought me her ribbon challenges goodies, a delightful....................nope not going to tell you, you will have to wait and see.  I will say that she has used a technique that I have not seen on any creations I have photographed.  That will get you guessing!

I did get into a little bit of bother with a customer, she had come to purchase the Vintage Rose Collection from the stand................but......... I do not have it on the stand.  It is so NEW that the girls just did not have time to cut it into lengths and put the header cards on the ribbons, to be honest I am not sure they could have found space for it either!!!  But a quick call to the warehouse and the customer will be getting the ribbons tomorrow and she did not have to worry about carrying them home.

Is there anyone else who would like a WANT IT ALL Collection of Vintage Rose Ribbons?

If you do then just leave us a comment and you could be picked from our "Bingo" bag on Monday.  Please refresh your screen after leaving a comment, just to make sure Henry our spam filter has not eaten it.

Todays selection of Challenge goodies are from Claire and Uta.  Both have choosen the pink bundle of Washing Line ribbons.

This ribbon says it all Claire, what a wonderful use of buttons, tags and ribbons.

I do like the way you have used the double line of ribbons on your cards Claire, very unique.

I wondered if anyone would try cutting the washing line out.  Very skillfully done Claire? although I do think the star of this card is your Twin stitching - perfect.

Oooh the saddle stitch ribbon looks great Claire with the grass poking out, super card.

The next collection of goodies are from Uta and she has joined us from Germany.

Uta your dummy ribbon and holder is perfect, what a clever idea.  With your layered ribbon card, the combo whould make a great gift for a new mum.

Thank you Claire and Uta, your creations are fantastic and are hanging on the front of our exhibition stand here in Glasgow.  I do think you should change the name of our stand from  "Crafty Ribbons" to "The Ooooooh................Ahhhhhhhhh" stand!!

Have a great day everyone.

Enjoy

Baby washing line - girl and boy

08/03/2012

All went well with the drive to Glasgow...............just a very looooong way.  It did not start to snow until we reached the "Welcome to Scotland" sign!  But it soon stopped and turned to slush.  Setting up the stand went like a dream, nothing missing - thanks girls.

If you are coming to the SECC for the Hobbycrafts show then you will see all the challenge creations we have received so far.  They are all hanging around the stand, they look amazing and very fresh.  Thank you to everyone that joined in with the challenge.

The first creations are from Sandie and she chose the pink selection of Baby washing line ribbon.

Sandie this card is so sweet, I love the way you have used the wee little baby stamp in black.  It stands out, while the rest of the card is in soft pink - shouting girl!

Very impressed with the form of trim Sandie.  I may just borrow this idea.

I very much like this card Sandie.  The ribbon and button pom pom is a perfect addition to the card.  The 3mm grosgrain plait just pulls the design together, a delightful combo.

I do like tags! A charming use of the ribbons Sandie.  (I confess that I cut your top ribbons Sandie.  They would not stand up for the photo, but kept flopping backwards!

Tracey and Paul chose the Blue selection of ribbons for their creations.

A very elegant design Tracey or was it Paul that made this card?

The addition of the baby washing line ribbon is a perfect match for these papers Tracey and Paul. A great fun card.

Thank you Sandie, Tracey and Paul for joining in with the challenge.  We hope you all had fun and still had plenty of ribbons left over to enjoy.

Someone is giving me a Paddington Bear stare!  I think I need to stop writing this and get ready to go the the show.

Wish us luck

Hello wednesday - taggie bib

07/03/2012

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

Hello everyone, it is me Rachie.  Ali asked me to be a "guest designer" for this weeks Hello wednesday project.  Ooooh that sounds so grand - me a guest designer!!

It all came about because I have fallen head over heels in love with this NEW baby washing line ribbon here .  Whether it is the colours or the perfection of the design I am not sure, but I just had to take some home and play.  Normally when I take ribbon home it is because we have run out of stock for an exhibition and the ribbons require cutting and headers put on in a rush!

But this time just for play...................

As soon as I saw the ribbon, I knew what I wanted to make - a taggie bib.  Mollie used to love playing with labels and of course ribbon!  I tried to get her to try the bib on for me, "mummy I am not a baby" came her reply.

I used a simple shop bought white bib and sewed the ribbon tags around the outside edge.  Ali is always saying "it was simple", but this really was.  I just used the ribbon off cuts from the warehouse, I wonder if I could make these to sell.  Ummmm would Ali charge me for the ribbon? Oh dear I have cut this short of a metre, that's no good to anyone, I will give it a good home!!

Ali stole all the Challenge boxes and envelopes and we have not seen all the creations yet, but I am sure other challengers will have made a form of taggie.  Such a great idea.

Phew that's my posting and "guest designer" status over, it was rather fun.

Enjoy what ever you have planned for today.

Rachie x x

P.S. We are still experiencing mail server problems, some emails are being returned to us unsent, our IT guys are trying to locate the problems, please manually check in with the blog to read the new posts. We hope to have it sorted soon.

And we are offf................

06/03/2012

..............in a few moments once I have written this post!

First showing of our current Ribbon Challenge - Baby Washing.  These creations have been made by Christina and she choose the blue selection of ribbons.  You can find all the baby washing line ribbons here.

I just could not resist putting this little message in to the range.  Just perfect for what Christina has used it for, adds that extra sentiment.

What fun Christina, this ribbon is a perfect match for Tattie Teddy. I had a little girl helping me with these photos who is a great fan of tattie!  I love the extra little detail with the button at the bottom.

Oooooh this looks trickie Christina.  We had these little 3mm grosgrains dyed to match the collection, we thought they would be perfect for tags and things! But you have made a card from them Christina, very clever.

I left the best till last - this is wicked Christina.  Just perfect.

Thank you for taking part Christina, and I was really pleased to read that you enjoyed the ribbons so much that you want to buy some.  A true compliment - thank you.

Well that is it, I can not avoid climbing into the van any longer for our long trip to Glasgow.  I can already feel my bum becoming numb!!  Van seats are not designed for long journeys, and my legs are too short.  They dangle, rather then touching the floor!!!!

I normally take ribbons to wind for our "I'm Frees" to help pass the time, but I have strict instructions to rest my thumb!!!  I feel like using a teenage reply..........."boring".  But as I am an adult (sometimes) I realise that it is for my own good. Still boring!!

Ummm I had to say sorry....

05/03/2012

..............I blew up our mail server today!!

I did nothing wrong, it was not me..........but the IT guys said it was.  I sent the vintage rose blog post to everyone, then a newsletter mailing to our customer base..........POP..................went the server, or so I was told.  We think only certain emails were sent, I got mine at gmail, but others on hotmail or yahoo did not gets theirs.

Sorry if you did not get either the blog post or our newsletter, but I am NOT sending them again!  I have been waiting to send this post to you all until I got the go ahead from the IT guys.  I gather they have set us up on our own mail server and it is all shiny and NEW, so it should not go pop when I send emails to my wonderful followers and customers!

Apart from the server hic up, we have had a busy day, thank you to everyone that placed orders for the NEW Vintage Rose collection, they will be despatched in the next day or so.  The Facebook FREEBIE is still running to win a Vintage Rose WANT IT ALL Collection.  Just like the facebook post for Vintage Rose here

The van is already for our loooooooong trip to Glasgow tomorrow.  It is loaded today and we do not leave until tomorrow.............we must have forgotten something, well maybe not as I had nothing to do with it!  All down to our FANTASTIC team of girls - you rock girls, thanks!

We told Mollie that I was going away for a week to Scotland and she said "Me too".  We let her sit in the front of the van to pick this weeks, Friday FREEBIE voucher winner.  It took a long time to persuade her to get out!

Number 37 =Sian
