Day 24 - Fairy on the Tree

24/12/2011

I only have one little job today - ribbon wise that is!

To hang my little Ribbon Fairy on my tree.

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas.

I am excitedly waiting for the over night ferry to arrive with Rachie, Mollie and Marten.  They are spending Christmas with us here in France.  Mollie's bedroom is all ready, she has a glowing Snowman as her night light.  It will be only the second Christmas morning I have woken up with a little one in the house.  I am not sure who is more excited Mollie or Ali..............I think it is me!!!

I have always wanted to see Santa's snowy footprints in my house........................do you think he will come...................will he find us here in France?  Oh I do hope so.

Have a magicial time, little kiddies and big kiddies alike!

Day 23 - Santa cookies

23/12/2011

I decided that the time had come, to hang up my ribbon projects, put away my buttons and do a bit of baking,  YES I did!  No Mr Tesco's did not make these.

Santa's cookies were made by Sydney and Mollie, in a wild moment last weekend I invited them both round to my house to bake.  It took them less then a trilly second to accept!! Baking with Ali was obviously a bigger treat than crafting with Ali!

Oh what a mess fun we had, Mollie thought we were rolling out play dough and when she dropped some on the floor she tried to pick it up and re-use it! Tony decided that the car suddenly needed washing and disappeared - were we really making that much noise?

It took all of Saturday afternoon, to make this little tower for Santa...........well we did have to taste the first batch.................just in case something was wrong.  They sure do taste good, yum, yum, yum.

We hope Santa will like them.

This is our last Friday FRREBIE of the year, so who wants to win a voucher?

We have 4, yes FOUR vouchers to be won.

You all know what to do, just leave us a comment telling us what a fantastic time you are having.  If you are having trouble with our spam filters, then please email your comment to craftyribbons@gmail.com (please note this may take a little longer to be added as we are away, but add it we will!). We will pick the four winners on 3rd January 2012 when we re-open the warehouse, so plenty of time to leave those comments.

We all hope you have a super Christmas weekend.

Sorry our warehouse is now closed until the 3rd January 2012 - no orders will be despatched during our closure.
Orders will be despatched on the 3rd January in strict order number rotation.
City Link option will be active again from the 1st January but will not be despatched until the 3rd.

Day 22 - Lets say Thanks

22/12/2011

It is the start of another Challenge over on our Ribbon Challenge blog - wow those two weeks have flown by.

Thank you to everyone that entered the last challenge, we had some super Traditional projects and cards.  This NEW Challenge is a sketch designed by Tessa and Anke.  Oooooooh something to take me out of my comfort zone, a SKETCH.....................yikes!  So I had a think and and came up with a plan. Do you remember I went back to school last week..........well I wanted to make a Thank you card for the teacher.  Everyone together................ ahhhh!

So here is Tessa and Anke's sketch

I do not think I did too badly for my first ever sketch!!  For the centre section I wove three colours of the twill ribbon here on top of a small piece of iron-on vilene and then ironed it in place.  The rose is made from seam binding ribbon and can be found here, and the instructions for the rose are here.  Some of you may have spotted the Thank you ribbon and yes it is NEW!

Gorgeous NEW Thank you ribbons are here!

If you get a spare moment (I know everyone is soooooo busy) check out the DT girls creations, boy do we have a fab Design Team - thanks girls.

This is our last collection of creations from our Top 5 Christmas ribbon challenge and they are from Karen.

Ooops sorry Karen a little to much light in the photo, a super card from black and silver with a matching card.  I love the way you have matched them up Karen.

Oooh I like candles, Karen was very thoughtful and put a candle safe tag with this card - remove ribbon before lighting and never leave unattended. A beautiful prezzie Karen.

Nadolig Llawen is Welsh for Forever Friends - how super Karen, great card.

I think is a super idea Karen - a Jar of cinnamon sugar to sprinkle over mince pies.  Oh dear how did this jar find it's way into the car, I seem to have it in France!!! Yummmy Karen especially since I have just baked a fresh batch of mince pies.

What am I like - this also has found it's way to France.........................Karen I think this is one of the coolest ideas this Christmas.  A Ho-ho-ho place mat for santa's cookies and milk.  This will be in use this  Saturday, thanks Karen

That is all of our challenge goodies for this year, thank you to everyone that have taken part, not just in the challenge but all the others this year.  Super creations and a wonderful use of ribbon - inspiration to us all.

We are off out to see if there are any Christmas trees left in France, we brought the little one with us that I used for the Advent photos, but to be honest it is very small and looks a little bit lost. Tony made sure that the tree was totally covered in the back of the car, he didin't want other ferry passengers to comment "What no Christmas Trees in France?"  Which is something Tony would say!!!

Have a wicked day.

Day 21 - 3 little stars

21/12/2011

I made these for MY 3 little STARS.  Felt and button decorations to hang on the tree.

Star felts which I have then sewn buttons onto with white thread.  I designed the little labels on the computer and then printed them out on photo paper.  I used glossy accents to raise the Samuel and the word star, just to give it that extra meaning.  I threaded 3mm satin ribbon here through the felt star then simply attached the label.  Button boxes can be found here.  This heart is for my favorite nephew, there could only be ONE Samuel.

Not forgetting the girls.

I know I am a big softie but  - Sydney, Sam and Mollie ARE MY STARS.

Linda is a tatter, and we always meet up at Exeter westpoint in September, look what she has created for our top 5 Christmas ribbon challenge.

The snowflakes are all tiny pices of tatting,  WOW what fiddly work Linda, they are awesome.

This is a fun card Linda, very jolly. I was really unsure whether to put this ribbon around my Christmas cake or the Santa one - decisions, decisions.

Look, can you see the tree - all made from Tatting - simply beautiful Linda.  The red flower from our seed beads were made on a flower loom.  Very creative goodies Linda, thank you - See you in September!

I am sure the warehouse will be buzzing with excitement today, ummm why I do not know - well Tony and I sneaked onto the night ferry from Plymouth last night.  We decided to take an extra day off!!  Tut Tut, naughty we know BUT hey it's CHRISTMAS!!.

The warehouse is closing today and we are having a total shutdown until the 3rd January, no orders will be despatched, phones answered or emails replied to.  BUT I will still be blogging, we can not have an advent that stops on the 21st can we.

So from a wet Brittany, have a great day.

Day 20 - Gift Jars

20/12/2011

If you need a last minute idea for a little prezzie for a crafting friend - then this could be for you.

Glass jars filled with buttons and ribbons! I would be delighted to receive these, just up my street!

The jars I found in Dorchester, the local Woolworths was taken over by it's store manager and renamed it Wellchester.  It is a super store and you can always find a treasure or two in there.  These two jars were £1.50 which i thought was magic.  I did very little work on them apart from making a picushion for the top of the ribbon jar and I stuck 3 buttons on the other jar lid. simple and quick.

Todays challenge delights are from Laura.

A little box covered in the Gingerbread tag ribbon.  Laura designed the size of the box around the tags, making a template and then cutting it from double sided colour card. But that is not all........

..it explodes when opened. WOW Laura totally fab idea - love it.

We must not forget the tree this time of year, Laura has come up with another super idea to hold those Christmas chocs.  That is just wicked Laura, will choc make it to Christmas day?

Thanks Laura for your super creations, they certainly hit the spot with me.

Day 19 - Extra wrapping

19/12/2011

I had a wonderful day yesterday, I spent the whole day in my PJ's!  I can not remember the last time I did that.  I got all my prezzies out and spread them on the floor and enjoyed wrapping them up........umm I got a bit carried away.................

I put bows on all my cushions - Something a little bit different!

As always we received some super treasures from Dorothy for her Top 5 Christmas ribbon Challenge.  Take a look at these beauties.

Dorothy writing with ribbon looks fab and relatively easy to do, but on a curved surface like these baubles, I bet it was a bit taxing!  They look fab, the A will be hanging on my tree this year and I will give Bev and Rachie theirs today. What a fun idea.

This is a nifty idea Dorothy very imaginative!  You really have displayed the Film Strip ribbon well.

A beautifully made lantern Dorothy, BUT your tree would not play ball with me.  Everytime I took a photo it would swing round to the side!!!

These little ribbon tags have been so popular this Christmas - I wonder why!!!  You have done exactly what we wanted this ribbon to be used for Dorothy, super.

Thank you for all your creations Dorothy, we hope Mr D is recovering well and you both have a fab Christmas.

Kiddies have broken up from school, oh no!!!! Naaah it will not be that bad, we have lots of crafting projects for them to do.  I wanted to get in quick with the Friday FREEBIE winners, just in case the winners wanted us to despatch their ribbons before the last posting date, which is tomorrow.

As the trio of "Bingo" Bag helpers were around today, here are the numbers..................

Day 18 - Classic red and white

18/12/2011

Oooh our little Crafty Ribbon team are all very excited......................why?  We are in the Mail on Sunday YOU Magazine today - hoooray!  Our ribbons are on pages 56 - 60 lots of red and white ribbons.

The piece de resistance is page 60, ribbon tied around a vintage jar holding roses - not any old ribbon BUT our EXCLUSIVE Swiss Dots that we designed for the New England Collection.  Thank you YOU Magazine you have made our day.

Gill has kindly sent us the link www.dailymail.co.uk/.../Interiors-Ho-Ho-home.html just incase you are unable to get the magazine. Thanks Gill x

Keep with the red and white theme - just Classic - how simple is that.

Find our gingham ribbon here

Have a wicked day.

Day 17 - Hearts for the tree

17/12/2011

I am always fiddling with something and this was last nights "concoction" as Tony would call it!

Simple little fabric hearts that I have machined and filled with toy stuffing, I would have liked to have added a bit of lavender, but then Tony would have sneezed through Christmas!  I used some of our NEW natural colour way Merry Christmas twill here.  To be honest I think this is the only colour we have left in stock, but as I wanted the natural, it was meant to be!  I held it in place on the hearts with french knots.  I love French knots, not everyones cup of tea, but to me they are fab.  So I just covered the hearts with French Knots.

Something a little bit different for your tree, something to treasure year after year.  Just like the fun we used to have as children, carefully unwrapping the glass baubles each year, pure magic.

Day 16 - Love Santa x

16/12/2011

Santa has sent us a Christmas cake...............honest it reads Happy Christmas love Santa x

Oooooh the hours I put into making this Christmas cake, the sieving and the weighing and then all that mixing.  No sorry that was all untrue - WHEN do I get time to bake , I am ALWAYS playing with RIBBON!

Jolly old Mr Tesco's made it for me, BUT it is my ribbon, which I am sure you will all agree makes the cake.  This is another of our EXCLUSIVE ribbons and you can find it here.

If this ribbon is a MUST HAVE for your Christmas cake (oh no forgotten the ribbon for the cake), no worries we are still despatching orders, if you get in quick - last posting date for First Class is Tuesday 20th December.  We are closing the office from 3pm on the 21st December and will be shut until the 3rd January 2012.  Sorry no orders will be despatched during our warehouse closure.  The team have worked incredibly hard, we have had a fantastic season and they all deserve a rest.
