Friday FREEBIE - 38

30/09/2011

I feel as if I have been chasing my tail all week. There is so much to do and so very little time, I am never going to get to the bottom of my list before we leave for our next show at Alexandra Palace next week. I got up really early this morning to prioritise my workload.  What a laugh!! What I really need is an assisitant, both Sydney and Mollie love to help me, and in a few more years they will be perfect.  But at the moment it is just me and my list.

All the NEW Gingerbread boys and girls are now online, you can find them HERE.  A super addition to our existing collection of these well loved characters.  The large gingerbread charms sold extremely well in Exeter and I am pleased to say I have secured another delivery so we have plenty of stock.

Friday FREEBIE time, what prize can we give this week, well we launched all the NEW Halloween Ribbons earlier in the week, would you like some of those? Or would you like some Gingerbreads?

It is up to you, what do you fancy?  Leave us a comment with your thoughts.

One of the items on my list is sharing all the wonderful New England creations, I had planned on spending yesterday behind my camera, but hey ho nothing goes to plan.  I did manage to take a few pics and hope to finish the balance today.

As soon as Leigh opened her challenge ribbon envelope she started crafting.  I had a text from her telling me how fantastic the ribbon was to work with.  We cannot get better then that!  Leigh was the first person to encourage me to make a card......many moons ago!

Sadly I do not get to spend much time with Leigh, we met up in the summer and had lunch.  It was just after all my new ribbon designs had been finalised and I think I dominated the entire lunch with ribbon talk! I just love the way this ribbon blends in with backing paper.  Very simple repeatable designs Leigh, thanks for joining in.

We hope you are all enjoying the late summer, it was brill in Dorset yesterday.

Have a great weekend.

If you are unable to leave a comment due to our spam filters, please email it to craftyribbons@gmail.com and we will add it for you.

Love it or hate (it is a bit like marmite!).  Well yesterday I hated it more than anything else on the planet.
I did.
We have converted from a profile with friends to a business page with likes.

Sounds simple. I backed up our timeline and did everything Facebook told me to do, the migrate went with out a hitch,
our friends were transfered as likes (super).

But no where could I find out how to reload all the past postings.
So we have a very bare facebook page at the moment, but please pop on over and become a "Like"!
If anyone can share the secret of how to get everything back loaded, then please tell.

You can now find us here

Before I forget - polystyrene balls can be found at Hobbycraft or Pinflair

Have fun

Hellow wednesday - Christmas pudding

28/09/2011

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

One of the most talked about items on our stand last week in Exeter were the ribbon cupcakes.  Everyone loved them and eagerly made a collection of ribbons for their own batch of cupcakes.  Our stand was opposite the stand that sold the polystyrene balls, a perfect combo!

"What about a Christmas Pudding?" - ummmm someone had already mentioned that.  So on Sunday morning I went looking for a Christmas pudding ball.......

The ball I used was larger then the ones for the cupcakes, about 10cm.  I covered it with 10mm grosgrain, in black here, when I make another pudding, I am going to change this to the dark chocolate as I think the black is....well....too black for a pudding!!  The dark chocolate ribbon is here.

All the raw ends of ribbon are hidden underneath the white sauce topping.  The sauce topping is made by pinning white buttons to the surface with white glass head pins.  I used the buttons from our "Ice" button box here.  I had loads of buttons left for another christmas pudding.

The three holly leaves are just oblongs of ribbon folded into triangles and sewn.  They are the same as for the poinsettias i made last year, full instructions are here. (WOW that brought back some memories trying to locate the link.  How on earth am I going to find another 24 Christmas ideas for this year - yikes!)  The berries I had in my stash and I would have thought they came from Hobbycrafts.

I hope you like my version of the traditional Christmas pudding, I plan on hanging it up, so will attach a ribbon.

Have you got your copy of Crafts Beautiful this month? "Why?" I hear you ask. Well, on page 71 you could win £50 of our wonderful ribbon.  That's right we are giving away £50 of our EXCLUSIVE ribbons. You can not miss the articile it has this picture on it.

I have one of my pictures in Crafts Beautiful - wooo hooo!!  Well two if you include the small New England card I made.  That's it I am famous!!!!!!

Have you checked out our Challenge blog recently?  I was without wifi for most of the weekend and I could not believe it when I got back on Sunday evening.  The current challenge "Anything Goes" has had 365 entries........amazing...............you still have 9 hours to get your entry in, closes at 6pm GMT tonight.  A NEW Challenge will start tomorrow at 8.30am GMT.

365 entries for our second challenge, yes it is still only our second challenge, awesome.  Go on, put an entry in, could we make 400 with 9 hours to go?

Have a great day, they have promised us a heat wave.we will see!

Gingerbreads have new homes

26/09/2011

It was great meeting so many blog readers in Exeter, I now have some faces to names!  It was a very busy four days, loads of ribbons and oodles of buttons were sold.  We sold out of the snowflake string by Friday afternoon, everyone was using my snowman card idea.  Thankfully Rachie offered to bring us more stock on Saturday with little Mollie. So I made a list of the other items we were short off. Thanks Rachie and Mollie you are stars.

Our new collections of gingerbreads (no you have not missed them, they have not been launched yet) have new homes to go.

Bev picked the winners for me today, she picked numbers......

Number 9 = Kara

Number 40 = Karen B
They are so adorable!  I love making gingerbread men at Christmas
Laughing

Our little gingerbreads are jumping up and down waiting for Kara and Karen B to send their addresses to craftyribbons@gmail.com Mega thanks to everyone that left super comments this week, it is great fun reading them while being away.  I am sorry Laura but we are not in Glasgow next month, but we will be attending the Hobbycraft show in March next year.

Hope to be sharing several new ribbon collections with you this week.  All the missing photos for the New England range were added this morning.

Have a good evening.

Friday FREEBIE - 37

23/09/2011

Another Friday and this Friday we are in Exeter in Devon at the Creative Stitches & Hobbycrafts. We have a stand filled with ribbons and buttons, and what a busy day we had yesterday. Tony and I were exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel. Talk about a numb brain from all the adding up, Tony confessed he got a bit confused with the prices of the NEW buttons that he was charging only 20p each instead of 40p or 50p.....Oh Tony!!!

On Wednesday I showed you how to make the little Gingerbread necklaces from our NEW metal Charms..................well................I also have some NEW Gingerbread ribbons, that I have not had time to put on the site yet. As a prize for the Friday FREEBIE prize this week would you like to the first to receive ALL the NEW Gingerbread goodies?

Yes?

Leave a comment and we will pick TWO winners from our "Bingo" bag on Monday.

Hi Ho hi ho its off to work we go, don't forget to pop by and say "Hi".

Have a fantastic weekend.

A little bit of glitter

22/09/2011

I do love Carols cards, they are always so perfect. I was really delighted when Mandy picked Carol for one of our NEW DT girls over on our Challenge blog here. I just can not believe how popular it has become, if you have not checked it out then please do, we have one of Bev's NEW Autumn cascades as the prize this week.

Carol entered the New England Challenge before she was picked to be a DT girl, so she got to play with these ribbons before the others!

How simple is that, a very effective design Carol.

It glistens and sparkles like a Christmas Tree should.

A quick change of colour, two strips of ribbon and a message and a super card is born. I make it sound so easy Carol, but I do know that the time is in the thinking of the designs.

Great work Carol and thank you for joining in.

It is the first day of the Creative Stitches & Hobbycrafts in Exeter today. The stand went together like a dream yesterday - thanks to all the wonderful girls in the warehouse. They really are super!

Wish Tony and I luck, we have not done an exhibtion stand since March, there maybe a slight delay while we get up to speed!!! If you are visiting the show, please do pop in and say "Hi", we love to meet our readers.

Hello wednesday - Gingerbreads

21/09/2011

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

We had a NEW delivery of buttons last week, and as usual the girls ripped open the boxes to see what I had ordered.  After the oooh's and aaahs had died down I started the process of checking in the consigment. Not a quick job, but I started getting very confused, I appeared to be short of several items, and I could not find any of my NEW Gingerbreads.  I searched the boxes thinking maybe I had overlooked them.

I should have known better, Rachie and Bev had removed all my stock of these.....

I borrowed this idea from one of the other girls, "They would make great necklaces Ali".  I used 4mm silk ribbon here to thread through the small hole.  It was quite tricky but afterwards I thought I could have attached a simple jump ring to the gingerbreads and then used any ribbon.  Durrr Ali!

Stocks of these gingerbreads are limited, I am trying to order some more, we will be taking them to the Exeter show.  They also come with a matching gingerbread house of the same size and smaller silver boys and girls.  If anyone is interested in me putting a few away and bringing them back from Exeter I will be happy to do so, just email me at craftyribbons@gmail.com  They are not cheap at £1.00 each, but they are super fun!!!

That's me for today, Exeter here we come.  Hope you wonderful visitors are ready for a ribbon and button extravaganza like you have never seen before.  Our stand is the BEST EVER, you have never seen so many ribbons and buttons squeezed onto 10 square metres!!!!!

New England Gift set

20/09/2011

Jan has come up with a super idea for her New England Challenge goodies - a Complete Gift Set.

I think this is a wicked idea and would be delighted to receive such a hand crafted present.

Jan has captured the New England colours perfectly with the card and gift tag.

And look how she has transferred the effect to the candle too.  Pure Magic Jan.

I hope you enjoyed the New England ribbons Jan, they really are very versatile.  I have been told that they are super to work with.

We are putting the final touches to our exhibition stand today.  Only the silk cabinet to complete, a slight little hic cup with it though..... we have not received one of the shipments from Japan- the home of the best silk ribbon in the world.   We have everything crossed that it will turn up today, otherwise we are going to have a rather sad looking silk unit.  If you are a silk fan, then all the 2mms are back on our website here.

See you tomorrow with the normal Hello Wednesday.
