Christmas Holiday Film
16/08/2011
I love this ribbon, I do, I do, I do, How I have managed to keep it a secret for almost half a year I have no idea!! There are 3 sweet little penquins a father like snowman, waving and having fun in the snow all captured on film.
When I came up with the idea they all thought I was a little mad in the office - "what, a film strip with pictures on ribbon, why?" It was not until I put the first mock up together that the penny dropped. It is a unique ribbon and once again EXCLUSIVE to us....yeah!
There are six different images which are repeated along the length of the ribbon. The ribbon is 38mm satin and is printed on one side only, cut it, chop it and stick it. Look at the detail of the printing there are little arrows and x xx's as on real film. I can assure you I was not the most popular bunny in the ribbon print room when this design was being transferred to ribbon!
As you all know I am NOT a card maker, so this design is very simple. I have teamed it up with another new ribbon (sadly not exclusive to us) The Merry Christmas is slightly padded and comes on a string with about 6 merry christmas's to a mtr. It comes in gold as well and you can find it HERE. I mounted the Merry Christmas onto Black Grosgrain ribbon from our Basics to Go collection HERE. A few 3D foam pads behind to raise it from the card and I was done.
This Film Strip Ribbon can be found HERE it is being delivered this week, so we are taking Pre-orders for despatch week commencing 22nd August. If you placed an order yesterday (thank you to all those wonderful people that did, we broke a day record for August!) and you would like this ribbon, just order in the normal way and we will despatch in one go. Do not forget the free postage by answering the question in the side bar.
Phew! It is hard work sharing secrets when you have struggled to keep them under wraps for so long.
Friday FREEBIE - thank you card
15/08/2011
WOW! Thank you guys for your wonderful comments, emails and even phone calls for our new Christmas tag ribbon - you are all super, and say such kind things. I thought they were good......but you LOVE them. In true TV style I would like to say that 50% of the stock has been pre-ordered..........BUT............you are Ok we have taken lots of pre-orders but we still have loads of stock left, 50% IS ONLY A DREAM.
If you love todays EXCLUSIVE ribbons, I can not speculate on what you will think of tomorrows selection.
I received this in the post....
...a wonderful thank you card from a Friday FREEBIE winner. Sarah won some button boxes a few weeks back and this was to say thanks. She also made my day by saying our blog was one of her favourites and she loves the tutorials. Awww thanks Sarah, a blog is only as good as it's followers.
It sounded like I gave everyone a tough day on Friday deciding which ribbons you would pick for the Friday FREEBIE prize - Back to School or Cherry Pick. Mollie had the pleasure of picking the numbers again this week from our "Bingo" bag.
Number 11 = Audrey
Please include me in the Bingo Bag – if I was lucky enough to be picked, I’d choose the Back to School selection.
Thanks
Audrey
Number 32 = Sandra
these ribbons would look so cute on the nappy cakes i make!! fingers crossed! enjoy your weekend. x
Wooohooo freebie ribbons coming your way Audrey and Sandra, all we need is an email to craftyribbons@gmail.com with your address and which ribbons you would like. Yes you can change you mind if you wish! Thank you to everyone that left super comments you are all stars.
I caught up with Mandy earlier today and she has been having a play too. Check out her cards with our NEW Ribbons HERE, What fantastic creations, six tags and a change of backing papers and you have a collection of winning cards.
Christmas is coming....
15/08/2011
It is, it is, it is..... For months we have been working hard on a range of ribbons that are EXCLUSIVE to Crafty Ribbons, and all this week we are going to be showing what we have created. To start our with we have......
Wooo hooo - this ribbon is awesome (even though I say so myself!) We have never seen anything like it before, it was designed with card makers in mind, the little tags can be cut out and used individually. There are six different Santa tag designs, all running along the length of the ribbon.
Not only are there tags in this collection but we have also designed Happy Christmas Ribbon - yes I did say HAPPY!! This is one of the hardest worded ribbons to find, Merry is all over the place but Happy Christmas - very elusive!
The Happy Christmas ribbon has tiny little stitches running down the edge of the ribbon that match the stitching on the tags perfectly. The ribbon is available in toning colours for the Santa tags we have Sherry, Tan and Willow as shown in my card.
BUT that is not all...................we have Snowmen tags.
Six different cheeky snowmen designs, we have also added the Nile coloured Happy Christmas ribbon to compliment the snowmen colours. But you can also use the Tan, Sherry and Willow ribbons, all 4 colours blend perfectly.
Want a Christmas cake that is different this year? At 63mm wide this ribbon will be perfect for your cakes, and look no one can see my messy icing!!!! Each metre of tag ribbon has about 28 tags, so plenty for you to be creative with.
But that is not all............we have Gingerbread Tags
How could we design a Christmas range without Gingerbread boys and girls. Once again six different designs to include a gingerbread house, star cookies as well as the gingerbread guys!
For the Gingerbread collection we also add a Ginger Happy Christmas ribbon for that extra zing, but the Tan, Nile and Willow also team up beautfully.
Not into cardmaking or cake making - then this ribbon can simplly be used for wrapping. Back the tag ribbon with double sided tape and stick to some card and cut around the tag. Hole punch and thread with the co-ordinating satin 3mm ribbon.........yes we think we have thought of everything!
Do you like it? Oh we do hope so, this is more then just a ribbon collection, there is a little bit of every team member in this collection.
You can find ALL this collection HERE. We are taking PRE-ORDERS, as it is not due into the warehouse until later this week. But to be honest we could not keep our mouths shut any longer - we were bursting. DO NOT forget this ribbon is EXCLUSIVE to Crafty Ribbons.
All week we are going to be showing you a different Christmas Ribbon 2011 Collection..........yes there will be more!!!
Is it too early to say "Happy Christmas" - no - not with ribbon.

Friday FREEBIE - 31
12/08/2011
This really has been a roller coaster ride of a week. What with NEW ranges, NEW Challenge Blog, DT Call, NEW Home page on website........ on and on it went all week. Yesterday everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE was in the warehouse cutting ribbon for the exhibtion stands. Rachie had Bev cutting all the bling, Vicky started on Swiss Dots then moved onto Christmas. Samantha was cutting the saddle stitch and then also Christmas - when we all sat down for lunch everyone was sparkling from all the glitter! Mollie was trying very hard to roll all the ribbon rolls back up, they must have cut 1,000's of mtrs between them. What was Tony doing I hear you ask..........hiding in the front office! With so many females in the warehouse he always seems to have the accounts to do!!! Poor bunny.
We have launched a NEW concept to buy ribbon this week.
Basics to Go is a range of ribbon on 20mtr or 25yd rolls. Basic ribbon in Grosgrain, Organza Sheer and Satin (satin is not on the site yet) at FANTASTIC prices, and I do mean FANTASTIC Prices. I had a quick look around on the internet to see what others were charging for these ribbons and to be honest we are way, way below everyone so I expect to receive a few emails!!
The ribbon is of very high quality, the Grosgrain range is all Offray ribbon. The reason it is so cheap? That would be telling............we bought the lot!! Every single roll that was for sale, no quibbling, we took it all. So if you ever need 25,000 mtrs of 25mm Turquoise ribbon (which almost weighed a tonne) then you will know where to come!
We launched two other NEW Ranges this week - Back to School and Cherry Pick.
Which one would you pick for your Friday FREEBIE prize if you were lucky enough to win? Back to School ribbons have some super fun designs, with book worms, apples, ABC and 123 while the Cherry Pick ribbons have been specally picked for their summer sweetness! Oh go on twist my arm, two prizes this week - take your pick.
For a chance to win, all you have to do is leave a comment below. For those that are maybe new to our blog, we have a very, if not over active spam filter. It likes nothing better then to eat your comment. When you leave a comment, before leaving just refresh the page, if your comment has disappeared from the screen it has been eaten - sorry. What we have to do is to add your email address to our allowed white list (something along the lines of Santa's naughty and nice list), just email craftyribbons@gmail.com your comment and I will add it for you. Once you are on the white list you will be able to leave comments when ever you wish.
Don't forget you can also enter the candy for the Cherry Pick ribbons in the DT call posting above - this will run till the end of August.
Have a great weekend - I plan on making snow!
If you are unable to leave a comment due to our spam filters, please email it to craftyribbons@gmail.com and we will add it for you. All the comments go into our "Bingo" bag and we draw a random number(s) on Monday.
Please check back to see if you have won, it is up to you to claim your prize - we do not contact you.
Back to School
11/08/2011
This is maybe a little early for some, but for others it will not come soon enough!
Apples, bookworms, pencils and rulers in ribbons and buttons. A little bit of fun to add to your school projects. You can find them all here.
I opened some more of the Colour Create ribbon Challenge parcels today - from Niina and Laura.
Niina sent in the yummy duo of a cupcake and macaroon, she wanted to make something a little different with added yumminess.
This white cupcake is covered in frosty icing, drizzled with ric rac and with a spot or two of buttons looks really yummy Niina.
As for the macaroon, well I am not sure one will be enough for afternoon tea Niina. I tried designing a ribbon with macaroons on, but.............it looked like squashed flies! So I gave up.
When I opened Laura's box it seemed to be filled with sunshine. This little gift box is a delight.
As you all know I am a fan of ribbon flowers, these will be happy with my collection Laura.
I think this is brilliant Laura and what a perfect way to mark your page, it would make me smile when ever I opened my book.
Very neat petals Laura.
Laura also sent a delightful star ribbon brooch. This would cheer up a winters day.
Finally Laura sent me an email with a photo of a scrap book page, I have just tried to retrieve it. But................ I think I have misfiled it Laura - sorry. Please could you send it again to me, so that I can share to all.
EDITED -Laura has just email me her scarpbook page so thought I would show you all tonight.
Lots of rays of sunshine this time Laura, keep grining it makes the world go round.
This is my second attempt at writing this post today, the first got deleted (by mistake) by the best person in the world!! Fingers crossed this one makes it to the publish stage.
Ooooh nearly forgot, have you seen our NEW sliding front page on the website.
Hello wednesday - Hat of Roses & a DT Call
10/08/2011
Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!
Oooh there are lots of things going on down Tin Pot Lane this week, we have been busy planning, photographing new ranges and a challenge blog...............so we have a DT call. More about that later in the post, so please read on.
First off my creation for todays Hello wednesday and a tutorial to boot, see I said we had been busy! When I made this hat Mollie just HAD to wear it! She wore it all round the office, she wore it in the car on the way home, and Rachie tells me she wore it to bed. Aaaahh. We went on a family day out to a House Garden event, and yes you guessed it Mollie wanted to wear her NEW hat. But not everyone can carry off such a clash in colour, red strawberry dress with a Lime green hat -ummmm what a colour combo!
These roses only take a minute to make, they really do. You do not even have to sew them if you do not want to, I just secure with wire. So here is what you do.
1. You require about 80cms of ribbon , scissors, wire to secure or a needle and thread.
2. Find the centre of the ribbon and fold one side of the ribbon down to create a right angle.
3. The ribbon that is on the bottom, fold up over the top ribbon.
4. The ribbon that is now on the bottom, fold across over the top ribbon.
Keep repeating this folding until you come to the end of the ribbon.
5. Once all the folds are completed it should look something like this.
6. Pick up the ribbon and hold it between thumb and finger.
Hold tightly the two ends and start to pull ONE of the ends.
7. As you pull the ribbon it will slide through the centre of the rose.
8. Keep pulling until your rose appears.
9. Stop pulling the ribbon end when it looks like this.
10. With a piece of wire, wrap the two ends of the ribbon together underneath the rose.
You can secure with a needle and thread if you wish.
Cut away the excess pieces of ribbon, one will be short - the piece you did not pull,
and the other will be long - the piece you pulled. This cut off piece can be used to make leaves and buds.
11. One finished Ribbon Rose.
See I told you they were quick! Go and have a play.
We all know you like our Ribbon Challenges, and you love adding ribbon to your cards and projects, soooooo..................... how about a dedicated Crafty Ribbons Challenge Blog here. (This will not affect our own Ribbon Challenges, they will be continuuing) Every two weeks we will set a new challenge for you to have a play with, lots of ribbon prizes and website vouchers to be won, just by entering your card into our ribbon challenge.
But before we can do this we need a Crafty Ribbons Design Team - would you like to be on the team? You will be sent a fresh new bundle of ribbons to create your project or card, you must have an active blog and able to take good photos. The team will be managed by Mandy and will be run completely seperate from this blog. This DT call is open to everyone from around the world, not just UK crafters.
So if you are interested then please link up on the Challenge Blog. The first bundle of ribbons you will get to play with are our EXCLUSIVE Crafty Ribbons Christmas Ribbons. Mandy was the first to see these ribbons outside of our warehouse team - she went mad over them and even tried to smuggle a few into her pockets!!! I am not that mean, I manged with shaky hands to cut lengths of my samples and give to her, months of hard design work left the warehouse in a carrier bag!!
If you want to read more about the challenge then do not forget to have a look here, become a follower and you can have a chance to win some super blog candy. We launched a new range of Cherry ribbons yesterday, they could all be yours by leaving a comment and linking up
One very excited

08/08/2011
Tony and I hit London at the weekend. After spending most of our time in either rural Dorset or Brittany we decided we had become stale and needed a city charge. Boy did we get it, what a fantastic place London is, the colours, textures, the noise, the people. In and out of the shops, this bus that bus (not keen on the tube!).................ooooh and talk about the food, everything you could dream of.
We went to all the top shops (of course) and look what I found in Fortnum & Mason...........
