Challenge parcels
25/08/2011
All the challenge parcels were sent earlier in the week - has yours arrived?
What do you think?
Ummmm a little bit different to our normal ribbon designs - yes?
I am sure the thinking caps are firmly in place and our lucky 22 challengers, yes I did say 22......I am not very good at A. counting and B. saying no. I just adore our ribbons so much that I want everyone to have them.
Last night was the closing date for the DT call for our NEW Challenge blog. Mandy has been hard at work selecting her team, you guys are all fantastic and thank you for entering. What started off as 5 + Mandy has increased............see I am not the only one that can not count! All will be revealed soon and ribbons will be sent to the lucky DT girls, first Challenge goes live on the 1st - so no pressure.
Back to our Colour Create Challenge goodies, sorrry Christmas launch has interrupted the flow of this challenge, but here is another selection to wet your imagination.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/sue+frame.jpg)
I love this shabby look Sue, did you distress the frame yourself? I have never had the courage to give it a try. The additions of ribbons and buttons has turned a simple frame into a work of art.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/sue+frame+close+up.jpg)
Shabby chic Sue.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/sure+butterf.jpg)
I am guessing that Sue had the Blueberry jam Pot selection of ribbons here. This butterfly wall hanging is divine.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/sue+butterfly.jpg)
What neat stitching Sue. A perfect use for ribbons and buttons.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/linda+music.jpg)
Linda this is so SIMPLE! Why has no one thought of this before - magic. Are the notes the first of the happy Birthday song? Not the way Mollie sings it anyway!!!
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/linda+card.jpg)
Once again simple but perfectly formed Linda.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/linda+button+flower.jpg)
I like this flower, bet it was a bit fiddle to make Linda. Great to hear you are coming to see us in Exeter next month. Eek! the exhibtion season has started.
That's me for this morning, I am off to take some photos....yes more NEW Ribbons.
Have a great day.

Three different Christmas trees surrounded with wrapped parcels. This is a 63mm grosgrain ribbon, pure white for that extra crispness. Perfect for cutting out, I even managed a pop up card!!
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/funky+parcels+500.jpg)
It's partner is this 16mm grosgrain with only the parcels and Happy Christmas. A funky & fun pair of ribbons.

Challenge delights
22/08/2011
You have all probably worked out that i really enjoy our Ribbon Challenges, and that several of you were nervous that they would stop since starting our own dedicated Challenge blog here (you still have until the 24th to apply to be on the DT).
If that had happened I would not get the pleasure of giving our ribbons away and also I would have no parcels to open!!!
Todays parcel was an even bigger surprise for me, it was from our Button Challenge!!! Clare thought she had posted it, and kept looking and waiting to see her goodies appear on the blog, but nothing. BUT when she tidied her craft room she found her challenge box - ooops! I will come to Clare's defence she had been planning her wedding, not an easy task.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/clare+button+favour+bags.jpg)
Clare did send us a handful of little favour bags she made to say sorry - yum yum. How on earth did you manage to print on m&m's?
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/clare+button+head+band.jpg)
What a beautiful button tiara, that's cool Clare. No buttons on Clare's own tiara she made, she used beads and wire, do show us a pic Clare, sounds wonderful.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/clare+button+heart.jpg)
Rather fitting Clare, it would have been our mothers birthday yesterday. Was meant to be.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/clare+button+back+of+heart.jpg)
The words on the back.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/clare+button+blue.jpg)
I do love this phrase, just so simple and perfect Clare.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/clare+button+keyring.jpg)
And finally Clare made a button keyring.......I think it would be much better as a button Bag Charm Clare. It could then live on my camera bag!!
Jans goodies are from the Colour Create Challenge, she has used both buttons and ribbons, and I believe she asked for the Goosberry Jam Pot collection.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/jan+butterflies.jpg)
Really impressed with this collection Jan, simple and effective. Sometimes less is more. These butterflies are awesome.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/jan+green+card.jpg)
I do think this style of card is super Jan, you never know I may have to borrow the idea and make something with our NEW Christmas ribbons.
Thank you Clare and Jan for joining our Challenges, we really hope you had fun and enjoyed playing.
I am getting really excitied.........after spending the weekend in Paris our ribbon consignment arrived in Poole at 5.30am this morning and is out for delivery today. I will be pouncing on every white van and lorry that turns into Tin Pot Lane!!!!

Friday FREEBIE - 32
19/08/2011
Another day, another NEW Collection of Christmas ribbons!
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/christmas+shop+2011+slider.jpg)
Once again this card is made from nothing apart from ribbon. The glitter swirl ribbon is gorgeous and also comes in silver and gold. It is totally sheer with wired glitter edges and scrummy glitter swirls, this ribbon is to die for! I have teamed it up with satin metallic christmas trees, cut out in the same way as I did with the snowmen ribbon on wednesday. I do have a xyron, but to be honest I am not a gadget girl and a roll of double sided tape is best for me!
These 8 ribbons are all part of our NEW Christmas Collection for 2011, these are not exclusive to us, but they are still as wicked. They are all in stock for delivery today and you can find them HERE. I am still adding to this section, I expect it will take me a few more hours as I have a crate full by the side of me to input.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/card+no+ribbon+500.jpg)
What would you like as a Friday FREEBIE? We have launched so many Christmas Ribbons this week, have you a favourite? Go on, do tell..........................if you leave us a comment (please read our spam filter details below) tell us which you would like to give a home, and we will pick 3 winners from our "Bingo" bag on Monday.
We do try very hard to purchase enough ribbon to take us all the way to Christmas, but as you can imagine it is like a gigantic guessing game. We are not perfect and we do get it wrong - sometimes. Last year it was a battle over the snowflake string. We would love you to pre order your ribbon, we know there are a lot of full baskets hovering to get to the check outs!!! BUT...........
......we do not want to deceive you. We have designed more EXCLUSIVE ribbons, some arriving on Monday, as yet we do not have a confirmed delivery date for all the others, but believe it will not be next week, but the end of the week after.
We would hate you to order this weeks Christmas ribbons only to discover that there are others which you prefer. We would of course love you to buy them ALL!
Is it only me or do you think it maybe challenge time again? These ribbons are crying out to be played with..............if you agree then watch this space on Sunday!!!
Have a great weekend all, and thanks for joining in with our Christmas week of ribbons, cards and fun. Nearly forgot there is still time to apply to be on our Design Team HERE.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2009/1/ali.jpg)
If you are unable to leave a comment due to our spam filters, please email it to craftyribbons@gmail.com and we will add it for you. All the comments go into our "Bingo" bag and we draw a random number(s) on Monday.
Please check back to see if you have won, it is up to you to claim your prize - we do not contact you.
New England Christmas
18/08/2011
I love all the new colours we have for Christmas today, shocking pinks, purples and even black, but I think I am a traditional girl at heart. I remember the smell of Christmases past, the pine tree, the cranberries, the colours were more muted, traditional even - reds and greens.
I hunted the world over for a rustic Christmas range, and I really do mean the world. I tried every manufacturer and even wholesalers that I could think of. Nope no rustic range to be found.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/new+england+header+slider+.jpg)
So I designed my own and New England Christmas was born.
Our New England Christmas Collection is rustic with a olde twist. Happy Christmas saddle stich ribbon with little stitched hearts compliment our vintage rocking reindeer, wrapped parcels, hanging decorations and Christmas tree ribbons. The collection is in delightful shades of cranberry and antique white with a hint of forest, a winning combination of Christmases past.
The New England Collection is EXCLUSIVE to Crafty Ribbons
There is so much detail in this collection, the little hearts have tiny stitches, as if they have been hand stitched to the ribbon. all the ribbons are grosgrain which adds a vintage feel to the collection. Once again we have choosen the words Happy Christmas and teamed it up with the classic stitched effect ribbon. The rocking reindeer is my favourite, he is just so sweet. Every little girl must have dreamt of a rocking horse for Christmas at some point, I know I did. Even now I want one!
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/New+England+Card+500.jpg)
All the ribbons work so well together, they were designed as a Collection, not just ribbons brought together. Sadly I did not have all the ribbons to photograph so you will see images saying photos to come. This is something I have never done before. I had hoped they would be with me today, but the tracking details tell me they have stopped off in Paris!!
We have tried to think of all the ribbons you would need for your projects, we have had 3mm grosgrain dyed to the exact same colours of Cranberry, Forest and Antique white so that you can use them for tag ribbons. We have also included 63mm grosgrain in Cranberry and Forest so that you can wrap around your cakes, maybe adding the Christmas tree ribbon on top.
So if like me you like a bit of tradition at Christmas, this range is maybe for you. It is available for PRE-ORDER HERE. All orders with PRE-ORDER items will be despatched as one complete order week commencing 22nd August
Enjoy.

Hello wednesday - red snowmen
17/08/2011
![](/docs/blogfiles/2010/6/hello+wednesday.png)
Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!
Wow that time of week again, the days are just rushing by this week. Keeping with our Christmas ribbon week, I have another new ribbon for you, sadly not exclusive to us but he is adorable.....
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/hello+wednesday+red+snowman.jpg)
Yes, I promise you it is ribbon and you can find him HERE.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/red+snowmen+3+500.jpg)
It glistens and sparkles with every move. Three different snowmen faces all wrapped up in warm hats and scarfs. This ribbon design just shouts to be cut up. I could just tell you how easy this process is but thought I would do a quick tutorial to show you. I had planned a video but our internet is so slow at the mo that it would have taken a fortnight to upload to you tube!
Tutorial to turn ribbon designs into images for cards.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/step+i+all+you+need.jpg)
Step 1. Gather all the bits you will need - thin card, scissors, double sided tape and ribbon.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/step+10stick+doub.jpg)
Step 2. Stick a line of double sided tape onto the card.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/step+13+cover+card.jpg)
Step 3. Cover the card with double sided tape. If you have sheets of double sided then you can use that. It is important that all the card is covered with the tape. the tape acts as the centre of the sandwich and stops the ribbon from fraying around the edges.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/step+15+remove+paper+backing.jpg)
Step 4. Remove the backing paper from the double sided tape.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/step+16+stick+to+double+sided+tape.jpg)
Step 5. Lay the ribbon on top of the sticky tape and press down with your fingers from the centre outwards. You do not want to trap any air bubbles. This ribbon has wire at the edges, but there is no need to remove it first as it will be cut away. Ensure that the ribbon is firmly stuck to the card all over.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/step+17+roughly+cut+our.jpg)
Step 6. Roughly cut around the shape.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/step+18+start+to+cut+out.jpg)
Step 7. By using the outline of the printed ribbon as a guide, cut around the shape.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/step+19+cut+around+shape+copy.jpg)
Step 8. Continue cutting around the shape.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/step+20+finished.jpg)
Step 9. Finished snowman. I used 3D foam pads on the back of the ribbon snowmen to lift them away from my card.
![](/docs/blogfiles/2011/8/red+snowmen+card+500+wm.jpg)
I used the string of snowflakes to finish off the design. The snowflake string was so popular we sold out last year, way before Christmas - we have bought double the quanity and it is back in stock here.
Off to get ready for tomorrows launch.
Have fun.
