Hello wednesday - Carry yarn

27/02/2013

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

I must admit that we had a little problem in Paris the other week about two of our NEW ribbon sayings.  "My stash is bigger than yours" - what is a stash?  Collection of goodies - yes they understood.  The other ribbon was Keep Calm and Carry yarn - not an easy one to explain as it is a play on English words........................maybe I should have thought of this card earlier.

Perfect card to send to my friend.  She had me searching my button suppliers after Christmas for small old fashioned style buttons that looked like "Hot Cross Buns".  I found them and she was over the moon with them.

Back to my hearts, I am not going to show you how to make them, but if you do crochet and can follow a very simple pattern then here goes.

Form a magic ring, chain 3, 3 treble crochet, 3 double crochet, chain 1, 1 treble crochet, chain 1, 3 double crochet, 3 treble crochet, chain 3, slip stich into chain and cast off.  Pull magic circle tight and you have your heart.

I had a huge pile of these hearts all in different colours, until a little someone spotted them in my studio  - I now only have 4 left!!  The Keep Calm and Carry Yarn ribbon can be found here.  We have sold hundreds of metres of this ribbon in only a few weeks - what have you used yours for?

It is a wonderful feeling, when something you have created is much loved.  Rachie sent me this picture last night.

Mollie fast asleep in her poncho.................

What goes around comes around!

26/02/2013

Firstly Mollie picked the colours for her Poncho - ummmm rather on the acid side!

She has been incredIblY happy wearing it all day, and was over the moon to have her photograph taken in it.

Hello wednesday - quilt album

20/02/2013

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

I am all out of sorts, I thought today was Tuesday! Must be my age, I get confused very easily these days, just because we travelled back from Paris on Monday and arrived in the warehouse yesterday, it has thrown my week.

We had a awesome show in Paris, but boy do they make us work. The hours are long, the language is difficult for me...............BUT.............. they love our ribbons.  We had sell outs, the first to go was the cotton reel ribbon, customers had handfuls!!  The next were the tape measure ribbons in the new colours.  I must admit that it did make me feel very warm inside seeing all the new ribbon designs being snapped up.

Laura was one of the first to see the new Knit and Sew collections as she is one of our Design team members for the Challenge blog.  She sent me this delightful Mini Album showcasing the ribbons and her first quilt.

It would be a dream come true for me to make a quilt Laura, looks like you had lots of fun.  I love the way you have used the new messages to enhance the album.  A delightful creation Laura, thank you.

The eagle eyed readers will be aware that I was two images missing from the range when we launched.  The factory had printed four tape measure ribbons all in the colours of Knit rather then two for Knit and two for Sew.  These ribbons have now arrived in the warehouse, and I will be photographing them a little later.

As I thought it was Tuesday today...........here are the winners of our Friday FREEBIE prizes.  Bev would like to give the Knit ribbons to Sharon P -

Hi Bev and Rachie
I don't know which to go for as do both. if lucky enough to win would love either of them .fingers are crossed

and Rachie would like to give the Sew ribbons to Carole -

I do some hand sewing and embroidery, I also sew on my cards, I can not knit anymore, due to weakness in arms due to M.S. So the sewing pack would be best for me should I be lucky enought to win. Love Carole Lockhart Stuart SmileXXX
Ps Enjoy your weekend all.

Thank you to everyone that left Bev and Rachie a comment this week, please can Sharon P and Carole email Bev bev.craftyribbons@gmail.com with their addresses and she will get the ribbons sent to you to enjoy.

I hope I get adjusted to the week soon - otherwise you will be having a Friday FREEBIE on Saturday!!

Have fun.

Friday FREEBIE - Knit or Sew

15/02/2013

Are you a knitter or a sewer?
or maybe you like both.

Well Ali has truly turned me into a knitter, I am part way through knitting a turquoise scarf
with pom poms (oooooh!) for Sydney.

Not sure I am brave enough to share it on the blog - we will see.

We had great news last night from Ali, the new ribbons are going a blast.
We designed French sayings as well as the English ones, and guess what?
The French are buying the English ribbons!!!
How strange.

O.K. decision time.

A Knitter or a Sewer?
We have one set of Knit ribbons and one set of Sew ribbons, for todays Friday FREEBIE.
We will pick one comment for each set on Tuesday.

Have a great weakend everyone.

Hello wednesday - granny squares

13/02/2013

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

Sorry but I have had another wool project, this time granny squares worked in the same colours as the NEW Knit range of ribbons.

I trimmed it with buttons and ribbons!!  Nine simple crochet granny squares that I crocheted together to make the cushion.

This cushion is on its way to Paris - well it will if I manage to convince Mollie it is not for her.  She is my greatest fan and assumes everything I make is for her!  Anyway back to Paris, it's show time again.  The girls have been so busy getting the new ribbons all cut and carded for the front of the exhbition stand.  The DT girls have been busy bees also making super creations for the display.  The stand will look awesome.  Anyone coming to see us?  The show has moved venues and we are at Porte de Versailles Hall 6.

I must admit that I seem to have acquired rather a passion for crocheting............................ummm I wonder how many balls of wool I can hide around the exhibtion stand before Tony catches on?  It would be such a waste to come back to England with an empty van!

Wish us luck

Sam is 5 today

12/02/2013

Happy Birthday Sam.

It is the first time I have been here for his birthday, I even missed his birth!  I am normally in Paris for the L'Aiguille en Fête show.  So I had great pleasure seeing his face when Bev gave him the Angry Bird birthday cake she had made for him.  That cake not only looked wicked it tasted really scrummy.

While we had everyone sat around the canteen table I got the two cheecky monkies to pick the Friday FREEBIE winners.

As you can see they were full of mischief and were pulling faces, but they did pick the numbers.

Hello wednesday - knit and sew

06/02/2013

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

Boy have we been busy..................working on NEW Ribbon collections.  But let me show you this first.

Just something I ran up over night!  Think not - knitting takes me ages even with giant knitting needles and knitting 3 yarns together.

The knitting is not all that I wanted to show you................Do you like the little tag?  It is from our NEW Collections of ribbons.

Ooooooh I am so sew excited!!  There is NOTHING like this collection out there.  We have (deep breath) knitted ribbon - yes knitting printed onto ribbon, Keep Calm ribbons, tape measure ribbons, knit and sew sentiments, vintage cotton reels..............phew!

Maybe it would be best if you had a look yourselves.

We have a Collection for the knitters here

We have designed the ribbons around four colours, Capri Blue, Rose Bloom, Mint and Tulip, but the best bit is we have had buttons specially dyed to match our ribbons - a first for Crafty Ribbons.

The sewers have not been left out, with their collection here

For this collection we worked with the colours Colonial Rose, Nile Blue, Grape and Peony.  How strange they match the colour of the cotton reels on the ribbon!  I love it when a plan comes together.  The buttons have been dyed to a perfect match, you can buy them as individual colours or we have mixed them up for you.

Enjoy
