Hello wednesday–Walkaway dress

01/04/2015

You should be able to start making this dress after breakfast, and walkaway to lunch with your friends.
About 3 hours………………………

I know I was a little rusty, not having made a full blown dress since making Rachie’s wedding dress, some 16 years ago.
But 3 hours?

It took me two days, plus an evening to sew lace around the hem.
What I did not realise when I started out hemming the skirt that it was 5 mtrs all the way round.
I ended up with a sore finger!

I made it to wear at our last show of our spring season, at Excel in London.

I was a little worried about wearing it, not used to showing my legs!!!

But I am so pleased I did, once I got over being looked at and whispered about - “Yes it is THE dress”
We had such wonderful comments about the dress, it certainly made our show.

I even got asked if I would sell it, what greater praise could you ask for.

Thank you to all your kind comments.

If you have the pattern, and I am sure many of you do……just go for it.
Make it and have fun.

Happy Easter everyone and do not forget to join in with our Easter Bunny Hop on our Inspiration blog.

I decided there was only one way to find out the answers…..

IMG_0140

Hello wednesday all, what are you up too?

Me?  I am in the lorry on our way to London to set up the stand for The Spring Knitting and Stitching show at Olympia.

We have lots of different goodies for you, as well as a couple of my NEW creations.

This one is along the lines of my advent bunting, but using our NEW Retro Car ribbon.

a handmade

The girls told me yesterday it would be perfect for a West Ham fan!

The ribbon is just perfect for small or larger boys.
Our Sam wanted the ribbon around his birthday cake last month

The pockets are just large enough for a few bits and bobs.  And I really love our handmade labels.
Although I designed them back in December this weekend was the first time I had a proper play with them.
Ummm I sort of used them on everything.
On one project I could not decide whether to use the handmade or the Fait Main label…..so I used them both!

Hope you all have a great day, wish us luck for Olympia.
Sorry to the ladies that we normally see in Glasgow this week….hope to see you sometime soon

Handmade Ribbon Labels

Hello everyone, it has been awhile.

Tony and I had a wonderful time at the French shows and arrived back last week.
Rather exhausted and full of cold, it is not surprising considering the amount of people we meet and greet.

Today I finally made it up to my office, camera in hand to take some photos of new ribbons.

I have just added these to the website.

page header

Is it a ribbon or a label?  Well a bit of both.

Narrow 9mm ribbon with either Handmade or

Fait Main (Handmade in French).

But the really interesting ones are these.

handmade

Cut the ribbon along the dotted lines, fold in half and you have a double sided label.
Perfect to sew into a seam, or stick to the side of a card.

So is it a ribbon or a label?  We have called it Handmade Ribbon Labels!

Find these unique and EXCLUSIVE ribbons here

We sold out of the Fait Main version in Paris, so we are making sure we have plenty for our next show.
We will be at The Spring Knitting and Stitching Show next week at Olympia London.

We have 6 tickets to give away – would anyone like one?
If so then you are just 2 steps away.

1.  Leave a comment below.
2.  Email me your address at craftyribbons@gmail.com

Please only ask for a ticket if you plan to come to the show.

Have fun.

Hello Wednesday - lace extras

04/02/2015

Hello Wednesday from a very cold Metz in France.

Would you believe the first night we have snow in Blandford for a couple of years, I am on a ferry and I miss it! Although I did have a very early phone call from a very excited Mollie "Ali we have snow". Mollie we have snow too in Caen. Although I can assure you, Tony was not as excited about the snow as Mollie!

I have never been a girly girl, always preferring to be in jeans and comfys rather then dresses. But I must admit that I have taken a rather girly shine to our new lace collection.

I have added some to the bottom of a jumper, then I thought it would look good poking below the hemline of a tunic. Finally I combined it with velvet to edge a cardie. Oh dear I am beginning to worry about myself!!

Have a great day, we are off to the technopole to set up the stand.

A bit of me time

03/02/2015

That's me all set up for our long drive to Metz.

I get so bored, I thought I would work on my New Year Resolution blanket - to use up all my odd balls of wool!

Have fun

Start of our Spring Season

02/02/2015

Morning everyone, when we left the Excel exhibition centre back in November we thought today was a long, long way off.

But today has arrived, and it's the start of our spring exhibition season. Tony and I leave on this evenings boat for France. We have a long drive tomorrow, all the way to Metz, up on the German boarder. We spend a week in Metz and then move down to Paris for l'Aiguille en fete.

We have created lots of new goodies for our French customers, new ribbons (not al11 new mini kits, our kit spinner is looking really good. We have a brand new unit containing lace, French lace!

Finally we have our new fabric panels for ribbon embroidery.

All our stock of these panels will be loaded into the lorry today. They will be deactivated from the website.

So if you want one...........order them now!

!

I started working on the Sea View print yesterday, just adding a few roses.

Our silk ribbon is a dream to work with and glides through the 100% cotton of the panels.

Some of you may have noticed that I have been having a slight problem with my formatting of the posts this weekend. I decided to try posting to the blog using a different platform, so I could use my iPad. I am sure I will get used to it. One major difference- you will NOT receive an email to tell you there is a new post. So just pop on and have a look every now and again. I am hoping I will be able share the enjoyment of the next two weeks!

Have fun while we are away, wish us luck.
